What We Like

  • The ANCEL FX9000 has a beautiful, massive digital display.
  • The built-in DTC Library is a real game changer.
  • Connectivity through WiFi, Bluetooth or OBD Port is quick.

What We Don't Like

  • The interface can be overwhelming for some, especially those not technically savvy.
  • The company website offers email support only.

The ANCEL FX9000 is a revolutionary product for automobile owners, being an all-in-one OBD2 scan tool that not only supports all the OBD2 protocols, but also provides additional features that go way beyond what other scan tools can offer.

The scanner is used in automobiles with a 16-pin OBD2 connector. In this article, we'll review the ANCEL FX9000. Is it worth the hype?

Look and Feel

The ANCEL FX9000 has a "classic" design that is very easy to use. A clear window gives access to the configuration options, two AAA batteries are included, there are no cables included, the device is powered by a single CR2032 coin cell.

Scanning Scanning is very simple. There are three buttons on the scan tool: one button to start, one to scan, and one to stop. To start scanning, just press one of the buttons on the scanner.

The ANCEL FX9000 scans in 240 MHz and scanning takes about 0.5 seconds. You can change the scan speed in the settings menu.

Connectivity

The ANCEL FX9000 can be used as a WiFi OBD2 scan tool. With the help of a WiFi adapter, it can be used on Windows and Android at the same time, and it supports iOS and Mac OSX via a WiFi adapter.

Functionality

The ANCEL is probably the most feature packed OBD-II tool available today. With its built-in DTC system, simple controls and sophisticated display, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better diagnostic tool.

ABS/ESP?

All OBD2 scanners can read all the sensors in your vehicle, but not all of them can read the ABS/ESP codes at the same speed.

The ANCEL FX9000 has a built-in on-board database of ABS and ESP numbers that lets it read and clear ABS and ESP codes much faster than other devices.

Freeze Frame

Although the ANCEL FX9000 will let you view live data, it also has a rather excellent freeze frame feature. You can freeze the data display on the scan tool to see the current condition of the vehicle when the check engine light illuminates.

Multi-Languages

Multi-Language Support ANCEL FX9000 is the most advanced car diagnostic and calibration tool on the market, being multi-language compatible for the following languages: English (US), French (FR), German (DE), Spanish (ES), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (CN).

DTC library

The ANCEL FX9000 fully supports the DTC system. The DTC system, or Diagnostic Trouble Code system, is a set of codes used to identify and troubleshoot problems with a vehicle.

The DTC system was developed by the automotive industry as a way to standardize communication between manufacturers, dealerships, and mechanics.

As a result, ANCEL developed the DTC library, which aims to shorten the scan cycle and return the data the scanner needs.

Smart (Auto-Detect) Diagnosis

ANCEL 9000’s Smart Diagnosis can run a diagnosis on all types of vehicles with an OBD-II port, not just the latest and greatest. You can connect the unit to a smartphone even if your vehicle doesn’t have a Bluetooth enabled in-vehicle infotainment system.

The Smart (Auto-Detect) Diagnosis will let you know about the various options it can provide if you can only connect it in a certain way.

TPMS Reset

The orange circuit board, part of the ANCEL FX9000, can be used to reset TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensors. When the circuit board is pressed, a green message appears. You then press it again to reset the sensor.

This can be a quick and easy way to diagnose your car's TPMS system without taking it to a mechanic.

Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) Reset

We asked an NDT technician to use test code PGC00400 to disable the throttle position sensor(TPS) with high accuracy. The ANCEL detected the problem immediately.

When you use this code, you will get the values which correspond to the values of the throttle position sensor.

Electrical Park Brake (EPB) Reset

The EPB in the most basic sense is used in conjunction with the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to allow a system to be accessed and operated, without having to perform a "hard brake."

The ANCEL 9000 can communicate with your vehicle quite easily and perform the EPB reset function in a flash. This would happen for changing out your disc brakes for example.

Conclusion

The ANCEL FX9000 is an all around wonderful diagnostic tool. It almost over-delivers with its wide range of features and the ability to connect to any car manufacturer’s vehicle. The ability to connect to the internet if needed is also unique. This is one highly rated product in our honest opinion.
